Dark Matter LabsDark Matter Labs Food as Infrastructure Supply Map xCO portfolio

A supply-risk map from the Nutrition Continuity work at Dark Matter Labs.

Where Camden’s food comes from, and the shocks that travel home with it.

Camden grows almost none of its own food — so its nutrition rests on a global web of breadbaskets, fertiliser producers and shipping chokepoints. This map reads that web inward: each node is a system the UK’s calories, protein or fresh produce depend on, and each arrow is the pathway by which its disruption reaches Camden’s shelves. Orange nodes are the supply sources the UK imports from directly; red nodes are the input and chokepoint systems whose disruption lands on that supply anyway. Select any node for what it supplies, its current risk, and the cascade chain that carries it home.

Pathways
The global systems Camden’s nutrition depends on, and how their disruption cascades to the UK A world schematic centred on the UK. Fifteen systems are plotted at their geographic positions and sized by UK-supply exposure: orange nodes are sources the UK imports calories, protein and produce from; red nodes are fertiliser, energy and chokepoint systems whose disruption lands on that supply. Coloured arrows converge on the UK core, tracing how each disruption transmits home through calories, protein, produce, input cost, logistics and climate. Use the pathway filters above, or the grouped list of systems below the map.

UK-centred transmission cartography — node position is geographic; node size and pathway weight encode relative UK-supply exposure, not tonnage. A qualitative orientation map, not a trade model.
